A Quick Overview to the USPTO

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)searchTrademark Searches:
All trademarks which have been registered since 1870 can be searched through several different mediums
Trademark Design Searches:

Performing a design search is more complicated than a text search for obvious reasons. To make the process easier, the USPTO has created a system of numeric values to assign to certain objects which may appear in a visually-focused mark. For example, if a trademark contains an animal and a star, the numeric values for an animal and a star should be inputted into the design search database. This will result in all visual trademarks bearing an animal and a star to be returned. The visual mark in question can then be compared to the search results.
